Harvey’s is a family-run business, founded by the late Harvey Maingard and joined by Liz, his loving and supportive wife, in 1967. It all began with him repairing cars, working out of a makeshift caravan office – across the road from the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.

Thereafter, Harvey and Liz were joined by all of their five children and the auto business grew from a repair workshop to include secondhand cars and panel beating services. It worked and the business found its natural traction!

In the early 1990s Harvey eased up his own pace in order for the children to continue and grow his legacy, still opening and closing shop every day and remaining actively involved. With rented premises in Central Durban, the panel beating business grew rapidly and the future was set.

In the late ’90s, Nicole (Harvey’s daughter) with the support of her husband, Charles Barth, stepped up the pace and headed up the now renowned modernised Harvey’s and moved the business to its current location.

Recently, a most exciting and positive partnership has been established with Gerard Robertson, who has been with Harvey’s since he was a youngster and is now an integral part of this well-run family business.

Harvey’s has continued to grow in popularity and has naturally expanded into one of KZN’s premier brands in the business of high-quality Panel Beating and Auto Body Repairs.
